CHOIR COMMITTEE

David Gordon has been involved in choirs throughout his life. His passion for Choral Direction was ignited by Professor Peter Godfrey at the University of Auckland where he completed a Master of Music degree. Since then choirs have figured prominently in his professional life and work as an educator, with numerous regional and national awards at The Big Sing national choir competition for secondary schools, and for primary schools, The Kids Sing.

David has recently returned to Auckland after more than eight years in Melbourne where he successfully established the new role of Head of Choral Music at Haileybury, one of Melbourne’s largest and most prestigious co-ed private schools, as well as singing with the Melbourne Chamber Choir and undertaking various conducting and workshop initiatives.

Previously, David was Director of Music and then Performing Arts Director at Diocesan School for Girls in Auckland.

David also loves to compose choral and vocal music and has had works featured in his concerts with Pakuranga Choral Society. 

It is with great pleasure that he now undertakes the musical leadership of South Auckland Choral.
